When we were wedding planning last year, we realised that for a variety of reasons we had to get registered (aka legally wed) before our traditional temple ceremony in Kuala Lumpur in December.
Since the registration was a formality, we decided to have a bit of fun. So a year ago today, having told only our immediate family, we made my elopement fantasies come true and "ran away" to Vegas...
Our officiant was really lovely. While I don't remember his precise words, I recall he spoke of everlasting love and hoped the sun will shine on us forever as it did that September morning, while singing sweet love songs throughout. I pretty much weeped when he belted Love Me Tender. Fun fact: he appeared as the King in the wedding scene in Katy Perry's Waking Up In Vegas video.
I was actually in Vegas a few days prior on a girls' trip but had said nothing of our plans - until the night before. Unlike the other ladies who had to fly back to New York, I knew one of my dearests, Sandy, had no plans that Monday morning. So mere hours prior, I requested her presence to be the official witness to the ceremony:

It was a great prelude involving just us two, to the huge party we eventually threw a few months later.
We are off to Sin City this weekend to celebrate one of the best days of our lives. This time, Elvis is not invited.
Congratulations! That looks like so much fun and the two of you look so smitten with each other. I especially like the photo by the Bellagio (right?).
