A Colourful Jaunt Through DC

We were in DC for Memorial Day weekend. I packed extremely light and colourfully - almost to a fault.

What follows is evidence that DC is so pretty, as well as that travelling with bright pieces can be a great alternative to sticking with neutrals.

J Crew Minnie

Marni for H&M jacket, Mango mesh cutout tee, J Crew Minnie pants, Ferragamo My Joy ballerina flats, Hermes bag and bracelets, Ray Ban special edition wayfarers, Michael Kors watch

Karen Walker for Anthropologie Dolly Chambray Dress, J Crew necklace (sim), Red Valentino sandals (on sale here, here and here)
Sarah Bell Anthropologie

Jacqueline Shift dress

Lilly Pulitzer Jacqueline shift dress (sim)

Colour or print-mixing is generally an exercise in experimentation. My only advice - keep one item colour-free. My neutral footwear that weekend hopefully prevented me from looking as if a rainbow threw up on me.

  1. Further proof that the Marni collaboration was the best thing H&M has done- that jacket plays so well with these different pieces! The bright brights was an excellent choice, and I am in awe of the brilliant and fearless layering with the cottage blouse! Bravo- now that's an excellent example of smart outfit planning...
