Vande Mataram

India celebrated it's 65th year of independence from British rule on August 15th. As is the tradition every year, there was a parade down Madison Avenue yesterday to commemorate the occasion. 

With appearances by Bollywood actors, cricket stars, "Mother India" and even "Gandhi-ji", the parade was such an explosion of colour and festivity. There were deejays on almost every float - like everyone present, I was bopping away and enthusiastically waving my plastic flag throughout.
